Terrible Feelings - Blank Heads Ep

Terrible Feeling are the shit, just ask Brian from from the band Night Birds.... He was all over these guys from day 1 and kept reminding me to pick up their ep's, really glad I finally did!

For the cover of their "Blank Heads" Ep, they took an awkward looking band photo and distorted it with so much grain and noise that even their own parents would have a hard time identifying them in this line-up. This effect is not a natural result of photocopying the covers 1000 times either, as these jackets were professionally printed on a thick high-gloss cover stock. The band then chose to have bright green stickers applied to the jacket as an identifier instead of trying to force type into the cover composition. Overall, it's a really weird cover, and I like that for some reason. The whole thing kind of comes off like a lost 1970's artifact...

This back cover is so fucking awesome! It a big, beautiful, abstract composition with a tie-back to the bold serif based typography from the sticker on the front cover. This is just a sea of white negative space with great care for visual balance and composition. the type hugging the top of the jacket and the cut of photocopied noise on the bottom were bold graphic moves that tells us a lot about the confidence they had in their design. It's perfect...

Since the covers are glued, there was also a three panel fold out insert included with this record. These are photocopied inserts on a lightweight text paper. The lyrics were all typed out on an actual typewriter and the mistakes have be crossed out and left in for all to see. A much more identifiable band photo is hanging out at the bottom. Looks good...

A side label is a nice type composition, everything is hanging out in a balanced manor.... It's classy!

B side label is a triply circular pattern that has been cut up and adjusted to create an optical illusion. Whatever you do, don't look at it while you've got the vinyl spinning, it will surely give you a seizure....

This was released by erste theke tontraeger, check out their other releases too....
